What if we could use everyday ceramic objects as computational interfaces?
Given new methods of integrating circuits into glazed ceramics, we push the design space of Ceramic Circuits.

What happens when we mix the historical craft language of porcelain with modern design forms?
Discovery
Our early explorations involved bending the materiality of ceramic, leading to subtractive methods with varying methods of destruction, between the sand blaster, drills, sews & mills.
We made some ceramics soft, some slide, some vibrate and wove conductive threads through...

... aiming to rediscover unexpected interaction affordances that household ceramic objects might offer.
Possible context

Chinese Wedding Tea Sets
Used during Chinese wedding tea ceremonies, symbolising the union of two families.
Following the wedding ceremony, these tea sets are commonly stored away serving no other practical functions.
What if
we transform this tea set to make them useful beyond the wedding?

Imagine a design service that converts ceremonial tea sets into modern home devices, extracting sherds and imbuing them with haptics for interface and functionality to serve as electronic interfaces.
